DAREN News, are articles and information about the Digital Amateur Radio "Emergency" Network of WV, which operates on 145.69 MHz. Anyone having any information about DAREN, or Amateur Radio in general, and would like to share it with others, may send it to WA8LLM @ PKBGWV on 145.69 MHz, or to my E-Mail: wa8llm@yahoo.com. A State Wide DAREN NET is operated every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and lately, before and after those hours. The DAREN Net Announcement, showing the MAIN NCS, ALTERNATE NCS, NODEs accessible to both, and the previous week's check-ins, are posted by Thursday on most of the Main county DAREN PBBS'. The DAREN News can also be found on the wc8ec.com website.
Not much to report this week. I spent most of the week at the county fairgrounds working the BINGO games for our communication group. I had both portable Packet and access to the Internet so I didn't miss any messages that were sent to me.
I've have about a week before my next event, so I think I'll try to get the original Wood County NODE/PBBS of WOODWV/PKBGWV back in operation, and also get the State Wide DAREN Net check-in certificates caught up. I'll be setting up telephone communications at WVU at Parkersburg on Thursday, July 30th for a free dental clinic to be held on Friday and Saturday July 31st and August 1st. I'll be monitoring the telephone and radio communications both days to make sure things work for the event. The dental clinic will be in operation from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on both days.
That's about all that I have for now. If your club or organization operated Field Day, don't forget to send your report in. The report needs to be into the ARRL by the 28th of the month. If you have anything that you would like to pass on to those who read the DAREN News, just send me the information and I'll be glad to put it in the News.
There were 55 check-ins again to this week's State Wide DAREN Net. Kenneth Butler, WA8TOX, needs only one more check-in to make 50. I have one station that hasn't checked into the State Wide DAREN Net for awhile, but has been participating in the Local District 3 ARES Net on Sunday. He has been using a callsign that I'm familiar with. If you think you may be using the wrong callsign, you might want to check your TNC.
